Beautiful Mossel Bay has abundant sea life with diverse fish, seals, whales, penguins, other sea birds, dolphins, the occasional orca and, of course, a plentiful supply of Great white sharks.

Being that there is only one company to offer Great white shark cage diving in Mossel Bay, you are afforded the advantage of the seals being the only competition for the Great white shark’s attention.

• Meet at the centre where a light breakfast is served
• Safety briefing and presentation on the Great white shark
• Board the boat to either Seal Island or the Great Brak River, depending on the time of year.
• Watch and wait for the sharks to arrive

The boat is a modern 11.5 meter motor cat custom built for shark cage diving in Mossel Bay. The boat has a large viewing platform above the enclosed cabin, space on the main deck for seating and viewing and boasts toilet facilities in the main cabin.

The cage is a surface cage which easily accommodates 6 divers.  The diving is on breath-hold and no experience is required. Topside viewing is exciting for the non-diver as the sharks swim very close to the surface. You will have plenty of opportunity to take some action shots.

Shark Cage Diving in Mossel Bay Peak Season

The Great white sharks are at their peak in our winter months, June to August however Mossel Bay has a high success rate all year round. We will always advise you close to your trip if there are any changes.

• Wetsuit and dive equipment

• Dress in layers as it can get very chilly at sea. We advise a warm weather jacket, sneakers or closed shoes, a beanie and a hat/cap
• Polarized sunglasses – these really help to block the glare thereby increasing sightings of the sharks from the boat. They also provide protection from harmful UV rays
• If you are prone to the cold. a rash vest will help with extra insulation
• Towel
• Water Bottle
• Snacks and refreshments
• Lip-ice and Sunscreen SPF 50 – the African sun is beautiful but harsh
• Camera of course! GoPro’s are great for stills and video and are easy to handle in the shark cage. Bring an extra SD card. You’re going to need it!
• For those with poor eyesight, we advise wearing contact lens whilst cage diving with sharks. If you own a prescription mask, please bring it with you
• If you are prone to motion sickness, we recommend Sturgeon or Dramamine. Take one the night before your trip and another an hour before the meet time.
• For your own enjoyment of the trip, we recommend that you do not over indulge in alcohol the night before as this may result in being very sea sick the next day.
