Gansbaai , South Africa ’s commercial shark diving capitol offers very high sighting rate of great white sharks during our off season.
The operators in Gansbaai are able to work close to shore and as such the chances of seeing Great whites is higher than in False Bay from mid September to March.
We have a relationship with the most professional and reputable operator in Gansbaai, 2.5 hours from Cape Town and during this period we are able to book you on a trip with them.
There are 8 other operators in this area and it can be confusing as to which is the best company to book with, so this is where we can advise you having been involved in the industry since it’s inception and Chris also having spent four years working in Gansbaai from 1992-1996.
The operator that we use operates in the most eco-friendly manner and does not use shark livers to attract sharks. There is a trained marine biologist on board as well as 4 other experienced and well trained guides.
All trips are weather dependant and as sharks are wild animals sightings cannot be guaranteed.
There is no extra charge for us to book you on this tour and the benefit to you is that you will be going with a reputable operation that offers an environmentally friendly and educational experience.
If you have time constraints and are looking for another shark cage diving activity that is truly exciting and adventurous as well as being only 35 minutes from Cape Town and 2 minutes from the boulders penguin colony then we would recommend our open ocean cage diving.
During the months of November to April we highly recommend our Pelagic Shark trip to cage dive with Mako and Blue sharks off Cape Point.
Our success rate for seeing sharks is 90% and water visibility ranges from 5 to 20 meters, making this the best all round shark and nature experience this time of year.
